More than 7,000 athletes, coaches, referees, media reporters, government officials, and sports officials from nine countries and regions, including China, North Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, and Guam (as a guest member), will come to Tianjin to participate in the Games. Based on the initial letter "J" of the pinyin for "Tianjin," the design incorporates creative graphics symbolizing the Haihe River waves and a running track, combined with a cloud pattern, to suggest the image of a "lucky bird." This creates a meaningful logo with Tianjin characteristics and symbolism, representing the athletes and friends from East Asian countries and regions who will gather on the banks of the Haihe River in 2013 to participate in this major sporting event. The reverse of the medal features the overall emblem. EA is the abbreviation for East Asia, and the Olympic rings represent the five elements of gold, wood, water, fire, and earth. This symbolizes their unity and combined strength, creating a whirlwind in East Asia and jointly creating the brilliance of a new century with the world.
Currently, the production of the medals for the East Asian Games has entered the final packaging and inspection stage.
