From June 6th to 8th, 2013, the Fortune Global Forum was held in Chengdu. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, sent a congratulatory letter to the forum; Zhang Gaoli, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening banquet of the Fortune Forum and delivered a keynote speech. Sha Ming, General Manager of the Group, attended the forum as a representative of a Fortune 500 company and participated in interactive exchanges.
In his congratulatory letter, Xi Jinping extended his warm congratulations on the holding of the forum and warmly welcomed outstanding global enterprises to invest and develop in China, participate in China's modernization process, and share the fruits of China's reform and development. Xi Jinping stated that China's development cannot be separated from the world, and the world's development also needs China. A vibrant and continuously developing China will bring more opportunities and well-being to the people of all countries.
In his speech, Zhang Gaoli pointed out that during this important period of great development, great transformation, and great adjustment, China, in accordance with the changes in the international and domestic situations, has put forward the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and then realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. China will unswervingly adhere to the strategic thinking that development is the absolute priority, promote sustained and healthy economic development; accelerate the transformation of the economic development model, vigorously adjust and optimize the economic structure; comprehensively implement the regional development overall strategy, accelerate the development and opening up of central and western regions; strengthen resource, environment and ecological protection, and strive to build a beautiful homeland with blue skies, green land, and clear waters; pay close attention to people's livelihood, continuously improve people's material and cultural living standards; and comprehensively deepen reform and opening up, ensuring that reforms continue and opening up never stops.
Sha Ming attended the forum throughout and conveyed Comrade Zhang Gaoli's important speech at the General Manager's Office Meeting of the Group Company, emphasizing the need to creatively implement the spirit of the speech in enterprise practice, promote the group's reform and innovation, transformation and upgrading, and make every effort to achieve "double surpassing".
The theme of the 2013 Fortune Global Forum was "China's New Future." The forum focused on the evolution of China's domestic economy, the development of China's western regions, and China's emerging role in the global landscape. This Fortune Global Forum was the fourth time the business event was held in China, following Shanghai in 1999, Hong Kong in 2001, and Beijing in 2005. Attendees included most of the heads of Fortune 500 companies, as well as former political leaders from various countries, such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and former US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.
