On the evening of July 7, 2014, Beijing time, the 2014 Fortune Global 500 list was released. Xinxing Jihua Group ranked 365th with an operating revenue of US$32.79 billion (net profit attributable to the parent company of US$390 million), a 41-place improvement from the previous year.
In this list, Walmart, the retail giant, returned to the top spot, while Sinopec ranked third, achieving the highest ranking ever for a Chinese company and breaking the previous dominance of Walmart, Shell, and ExxonMobil. A record-breaking 100 Chinese companies made the list, with 57 of them being central enterprises and centrally managed financial institutions. Among the 113 central enterprises supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, 47 made the list, setting a new high.
